My son is a tall 8-year-old and the 8-9 size fits him with room to grow, which never happens. The retro pattern is actually cute in person, not cheesy like I worried, and the fleece feels thick without being bulky.
Ordered the 12/L for my daughter and it actually fits her 13-year-old frame without looking babyish, which is rare for fleece sizes. The retro pattern is fun without being loud, and the polyester holds up fine after a few washes.
The fleece is really soft and my son loves the retro pattern, which looks even better in person. I do wish the sizing ran a bit bigger, since the 12/L was snug on him, but it still works for layering.
